This is my brother, Meddy, who has been persistently suffering from mental illness for over 15 years. Our entire family is hurting along with him, and this has created my calling to serve those who have been cast aside due to their mental illness.

We have truly all suffered watching Meddy’s attempt to harm himself and our mother.  He agonizes when thinking on the things he has done but cannot help what he does when having an episode.  He often must be restrained to protect himself and others.

Our family has struggled to pay for the hospital and medication expenses, and we know that other families are struggling just as we are. We long for a life of respect and honor for Meddy and we believe that with proper care he can live a life worth living someday.  We want this for all of God’s children who are experiencing the pain of living with mental illness in Rwanda and all over the world.
